"Jonah on the Shore" - Driftwood and Rhyolite - One of a Kind - Handmade Rosary
It’s not the fish! What’s most spectacularly strange and marvelous in the story of Jonah is God’s mercy.
The driftwood, shells and colors of this rosary suggest the odds and ends of tidal wrack where Jonah landed safe ashore.
The cross of the rosary is cast from a well-worn 19th century Russian antique. The letters “IC XC” are an ancient abbreviation of the Greek words “Jesus Christ.” The cross and the rosary center are both solid bronze.
The Paters are pieces of driftwood, suspended between beads of heavy solid brass. Slices of shell are attached alongside a few of the Paters.
The stone Aves are rhyolite, in mottled greens, browns and cream — colors of the shoreline.
At the ends of the strands are beads of wood and brass. The spacer beads are matte glass. The wire wraps and the connecting rings are solid bronze.
The rosary is strung on premium quality SoftFlex jewelers’ cable composed of 49 strands of steel encased in nylon; each end is double-crimped for security.
