“Liturgy of the World” - Inspired by the vision of Teilhard de Chardin - Fossil Ammonites and Riverstone - One of a Kind - Handmade Rosary
We are to “consecrate the world” said Pope Benedict XVI. “This is the great vision of Teilhard de Chardin: in the end we shall achieve a true cosmic liturgy, where the cosmos becomes a living host.” — homily, 7/24/09
The Pater beads of this rosary are delicate fossil ammonites — ancient spiral sea creatures which flourished worldwide for hundreds of millions of years, and which have been gone now for millions more. The fossils have been sliced in half, so on the interior we can see the ammonites’ spiraling chambers. The exteriors are partly iridescent. Alongside the Paters are beads of solid brass.
The shapely cross is cast from a 15th century antique. Both the cross and rosary center are solid bronze.
The Ave beads are riverstone, separated by beads of matte glass in muted greens, purples, blues and browns.
The rosary is strung on premium quality Softflex jewelers’ cable, composed of 49 strands of steel encased in nylon, with a test strength of 26 pounds. Each end is double-crimped for security. All the connecting rings are solid bronze.
Handle gently. While this rosary is sturdily constructed, fossils are inherently fragile.
