"Saint Joan of Arc" - Poppy Jasper and Bone - Handmade Rosary

$340.00

Saint Joan of Arc’s immense courage and simple faith is always an inspiration. Church authorities convicted her of heresy and put her to death… 25 years later, Church authorities reversed and annulled her sentence… 500 years later, Church authorities declared her a saint.

The lovely openwork cross of this rosary is solid bronze. This doubled-barred form, known as the Cross of Anjou or the Cross of Lorraine, has long been considered “Saint Joan’s cross,” because she was born in the area of Anjou/Lorraine.

The bone Paters are carved with graceful curves. To us, something about their shapes suggests the movement of air — which, in turn, reminds us of the “voices” Saint Joan heard. Saint Joan believed those were the voices of angels and saints conveying to her God’s will. These Pater beads are irreplaceable — we happened to find a half-handful years ago, and haven’t been able to find any more since. They’re set between ribbed beads of solid brass.

The Aves are poppy jasper, in variegated deep reds. These are a smaller size than those we often use, yet they’re easy for our fingers to distinguish from one another due to the way they are spaced.

Separating the Aves are beads of matte glass in various muted colors. The connecting rings are solid bronze.

The rosary is strung on premium quality Soft Flex jewelers’ cable composed of 49 strands of steel encased in nylon, with a test strength of 26 pounds; each end is double-crimped for security.
