"Saint Brigid's Fire" - Antique Murano Glass and Bone - Handmade Chaplet

$145.00

This chaplet commemorates the fire Saint Brigid kept alight in the monastery of Kildare, which was tended over the centuries by the Sisters of St. Brigid, and is burning today at Solas Bhríde under the care of the Brigidine nuns.

The cross of the chaplet is embellished with shamrocks. It's solid bronze, hand-cast from a vintage original.

The Pater bead is vintage Murano millefiori glass, with lively patterns resembling stars or flowers, in the exuberant colors for which Murano glass is so well known. On each side of the Pater are caps of solid brass.

The Ave beads are smooth white bone. Throughout the strand are beads of red glass — antique Venetian white hearts — for the flame. Interspersed between the red glass are beads of solid brass.

Cross: 1.75"
Pater: about .5" wide
Aves: 8mm
Length: 6.5" from the top of the loop to the bottom of the cross
