Brigid by the Oak
Acorn Chaplet, variation iii

Serpentine, Horn and Bronze
10-Bead Handmade Chaplet

Irish Shore, variation ii, curved stone beads and bronze, preview, Still Stone and Moss, Prayer Bead Art

"The very oak tree under which she delighted to pray has given a name to the place."
  -- John Watkinson

Saint Brigid founded the renowned Abbey of Kildare -- the Church of the Oak -- in County Kildare, Ireland, in the 5th century.

In Saint Brigid's honor, the Pater bead of this chaplet resembles an acorn.  The bead is burnt horn, in variegated browns, and the cap is antiqued brass.  Alongside the Pater are cylindrical beads of striped palm.

The lovely crucifix is absolutely covered in leaves and flowers.  It's hand-cast from a vintage original, in solid bronze.

The stone Aves are speckly green serpentine, separated by beads of brass.

The chaplet is strung on premium quality Soft Flex jewelers' cable, composed of 49 strands of steel encased in nylon, with a test strength of 26 pounds;  each end is double-crimped for security.  The connecting rings are bronze.

Crucifix:  1.8"
Pater:  about 14mm
Aves:  8mm
Length:  about 6.25" from the top of the loop to the bottom of the crucifix

$130. (Sold. For a similar chaplet, please inquire.)
