Going Overboard
Old Brass and Glass
Handmade Rosary

"Overboard on the instant went Simon Peter...
Overboard into the water this impulsive creature flung himself, girding up his clothes as he rushed out through the shallow depth... half swimming, half wading -- "
-- Charles Seymour Robinson, Simon Peter:  His Later Life and Labours, 1894.

The Reverend Dr. Robinson felt Peter ought to have acted more rational and sober.  We think Jesus must have laughed -- with affection.  For the full story, see John 21:6.

The rustic, handmade African brass spheres we've used for the Paters of this rosary are symbolic of Peter's fishing net -- suddenly so super-abundantly full that "now they were not able to draw it, for the multitude of fishes."

The Ave beads are matte Czech glass in warm amber tones.  Among these are beads of wood, brass, and matte glass in black and olive.

The Coptic crucifix and rosary center are both solid bronze, hand-cast from 19th century originals.

The rosary is strung on premium quality Soft Flex jewelers' cable, composed of 49 strands of steel encased in nylon, with a test strength of 26 pounds;  each end is double-crimped for security.
